The “Excellent” rating means ROMC substantially exceeds state criteria to ensure all students meet the “Profile of the SC Graduate” goals. This achievement reflects ROMC’s continued commitment to academic excellence, student-centered learning, and strong college and career outcomes. In the 2024–2025 school year, students earned 830+ college credit hours, six associate degrees before high school graduation, and the Class of 2025 was awarded $1.1M+ in scholarships.

ROMC Student Attends National Student Leadership Academy in Washington, D.C.

Richland One Middle College (ROMC) is proud to highlight the achievements of our student, Sir Dunham, who recently attended the National Student Leadership Academy (NSLA) in Washington, D.C., a prestigious event organized by the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program.

The NSLA brings together outstanding student leaders from across the nation, offering them a chance to develop leadership skills, engage in team-building activities, and connect with influential leaders, all while exploring the nation's capital.

Dunham was one of only eight students selected to represent South Carolina in this competitive program, serving as the state’s Vice President of Career Development for JAG. His journey to NSLA reflects his exceptional dedication and leadership, as well as the support and mentorship he has received from instructors and state JAG specialists.

Dunham credits much of his success to the guidance of key mentors: “I have to give credit to my specialist last year Mr. Stephens, and to my instructor, Ms. Heather. She has helped me a great deal, and she has allowed me to get into this position. If it wasn’t for her guidance, I don’t think I would have been elected to the state position I have now. And also, to Ms. Witherspoon, for being able to be flexible, and give me the keys and tools I need to be able to take what I’ve already learned and elevate it to that next step.”

The three-day program included intensive breakout sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities.

ROMC celebrates Dunham’s accomplishment and looks forward to seeing the continued impact of his leadership journey on our school and community. Stay tuned for more inspiring updates from our students as they soar to new heights!
